V2Ray Client Downloadsv2rayN / v2rayNG

Choose your operating system, then select the processor architecture and package format.

Use v2rayN on desktop. On Android, choose v2rayNG for the Xray core or v2flyNG if you need the V2Fly core. All three clients are free and open source; after installation, you’ll need to import a valid subscription or node configuration.

Installers, Clients, and Subscriptions

The installer provides the software; the subscription provides connection settings.

Check your device details before downloading. After installation, add a subscription group, update the node list, then configure routing and proxy mode. Don’t enter a subscription URL in a download button or try to import an installer as a node. The client version, core capabilities, and node settings must be compatible.

Desktop uses a newer cross-platform UI, making it a good choice for first-time users and anyone who wants a consistent desktop experience. WPF is the classic edition, with familiar Windows-style controls. Choose the interface you prefer; there’s no need to install both just to import the same subscription.

Runtime dependenciesDepends on whether the current package includes the required runtimeIf prompted to install the .NET desktop runtime, install the required major version for x64 as indicated by the error.
File access and permissionsMake sure the configuration directory is writable; use standard permissions for regular connectionsTUN or service features may require additional permissions. Not every startup issue is caused by insufficient permissions.

After downloading, open the saved location in File Explorer and select Extract all. Don’t run the program from inside the archive. Check the installation location when running the installer. If you’re keeping the old version for rollback, avoid sharing configuration directories between versions. After installation, open the main window and confirm the settings load before importing a subscription.

If the app closes immediately after launch, check the system message and client logs. A missing runtime, unreadable configuration, and blocked directory access are different problems with different fixes. Windows system proxy settings and TUN are separate features. For your first connection, test a node using the system proxy, then consider TUN based on which apps need traffic routed through it.

Configuration Steps After Installation

First confirm the app launches, then set up your subscription and routing and test the connection.

Add a Subscription and Update Nodes

In v2rayN, open Subscription Group Settings, add a group, and enter a label and an optional URL. Save the group, then update the subscription. The group name is for local organization and doesn’t change your server account. Keep all subscription URL parameters intact; removing query parameters may prevent updates.

In v2rayNG, add the URL in Subscription Group Settings and update the subscription. If you have a single share link, use the appropriate import option instead of treating it as a subscription URL. Seeing a node in the list only confirms that its configuration loaded; test the connection to check whether it works.

Choose a Mode and Test the Connection

After selecting a node, start with a routing setup you understand. The system proxy mainly affects apps that follow system settings; TUN routes a wider range of traffic and involves additional permissions, routing, and DNS behavior. For your first setup, don’t change the core, DNS, and rules all at once, or it will be difficult to identify the cause of problems.

After connecting, check the client logs and test actual access. A latency figure reflects only a specific test method; it doesn’t measure download speed or guarantee that every app will work. If some addresses fail, identify whether the issue is the node, DNS, or routing rules before changing the relevant settings.

Download and Installation FAQ

Find the issue by installation stage; don’t mistake a configuration problem for an installer issue.

Windows: Should You Download Desktop or WPF?

For a first installation, consider Desktop, which uses a newer cross-platform interface. Choose WPF if you prefer the classic Windows interface. Both downloads are x64 installers; subscription and node settings must still match your server configuration. Back up your settings before switching editions, and avoid running both instances with system proxy control enabled.

Android: Should You Choose arm64 or Universal?

Most mainstream phones released since 2015 will use arm64, but the supported app architecture depends on the operating system. Choose arm64 if your device runs a 64-bit OS. If the architecture is unclear or the installer reports an incompatibility, try the universal version, which includes multiple architectures and is usually larger.

How to Check Whether Your Mac Has Apple Silicon or Intel

Open About This Mac from the Apple menu and check the Chip or Processor field. If it shows an Apple M-series chip, choose Apple Silicon; if it shows an Intel processor, choose Intel. Don’t infer the architecture from the macOS version, device appearance, or purchase date.

Linux: Should You Choose deb or rpm?

Choose the package format used by your distribution: Debian, Ubuntu, and related distributions generally use deb; Fedora, RHEL, and related distributions generally use rpm. You’ll also need to match x64 or arm64. A matching package format alone doesn’t guarantee that your distribution version meets the runtime requirements.

Why Are There No Usable Nodes After Installing the Client?

The client reads configuration and establishes connections; the installer does not include your personal subscription or nodes. Get a valid subscription URL or share link, add it in subscription group settings, update the subscription, and then select a node. Subscription URLs may contain access credentials, so don’t show them in public screenshots or logs.

What Should You Keep Before Updating the Client?

Use the client’s backup or export feature to save your configuration. Note your subscription groups, routing mode, DNS settings, and custom rules, then quit the old instance. After upgrading, confirm the configuration loads before testing subscription updates and connections. Backups may contain sensitive settings; store them securely.
